Tips for Mulching

Here are some suggestions when you are ready to add mulch to your trees this spring. If mulch is piled against a tree trunk, pull it back to uncover the base of the trunk and the root flare, when this happens we call it the volcano effect. Mulch piled against the trunk of the tree holds moisture against the trunk, this could cause root rot because moisture is being trapped against the tree trunk.

Try to mulch out to the tree’s drip line or beyond. In a forest the tree's root system is mulched entirely by the leaves that constantly drop year after year. You should try to get as much mulch around the tree as possible.

Spring Time

Did you miss the opportunity to get a new lawn installed last year?  Chances are you have been looking at a dried up, spotty weed infested lawn and don't know where to start.  For starters your going to want your new lawn to have a good soil base.  Typically we recommend 3"-4" of a good loam base.  Make sure the seed you use will do best in the area you are trying to establish your new lawn.  Is it sunny? Is it a shade area? These are questions you will want to address.  Lastly, you will want some kind of daily water source.  We recommend having an irrigation system installed.  The days of hand watering are over!  Lets face it, we are simply to busy to manage hand watering a lawn.  Call Accurate Landscape & Snow Management in Manchester, NH today for your free consultation.
